Is Friday D-Day for state capture report?

Out going Public Protector Thuli Madonsela is expected to release a report on her investigation into allegations of state capture tomorrow which could implicate the Gupta family.

Gupta lawyer Gert van der Merwe, yesterday told CapeTalk/ 702 that Madonsela had not followed due process with regards to the Gupta family and have asked that the final report not be released tomorrow.

Earlier this week President Jacob Zuma’s office released a statement that said the President wanted an assurance from Advocate Thuli Madonsela that she would not release a report on Thursday.

In addition, Zuma wanted to question ministers who gave evidence against him on State capture.

EWN Reporter Gia Nicolaides says there will be a briefing on Friday where Thuli Madonsela will be releasing the final batch of her investigations as the Public Protector.

Nicolaides says it is not clear if the report into State capture will be a final or preliminary report - or indeed only part thereof.

I think we would have to wait until tomorrow when she will release the final batch of the report to see which aspects of that report she has managed to complete.

Gia Niccolaides, EWN reporter

If the report released on Friday presents the Guptas in a negative light, Nicolaides says the Gupta's lawyer have indicated they will deny those aspects of the report and ask for a review.
