Ahmed Kathrada urges South Africans to rally behind Pravin Gordhan

Numerous foundations, NGO's and other groups, announced that they are mobilising support for Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan when he appears in court on 2 November.

Gordhan was served with a summons to appear in court on a charge of fraud along, with former Sars commissioner Oupa Magashula and Former Deputy commissioner of Sars Ivan Pillay.

One of the foundations standing in support of Finance Minister is the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.

The call to support Pravin Gordhan is an initiative of Ahmed Kathrada himself, says Ahmed Kathrada Foundation Director, Neeshan Balton.

The foundation stands in support of the ethical leadership Pravin Gordhan represents, and believes the charges against him are nothing but malicious prosecution.

Balton pins the whole issue on the manner in which Pravin and his team have managed treasury, the position they have taken on key issues and demand for sound governance.

In essence we are saying that South African should support him in and out of the court rooms.

Mr Kathrada has appealed to all his board members to consider joining him.
