Treasury is in safe hands - Director General

Treasury Director General Lungisa Fuzile says the National Treasury office is preparing the medium term budget policy statement that responds 'decisively to circumstances faced by the country'

Fraud charges against Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan have raised concerns about stability at the National Treasury.

However, Fuzile says South Africans have nothing to worry about because Gordhan, his Deputy Mcebisi Jonas and the Treasury team are working hard to ensure the work is done.

Responding to questions investors are asking whether the minister will be fired, Fuzile, says he does not have the answers.

Only the President and the parties from which the minister comes from can answer that question. It is beyond my pay grade.
