NDPP won't speak on merits of charge against Gordhan - SACC

South African Council of Churches (SACC) has met with National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Shaun Abrahams to discuss his decision to charge Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan with fraud.

SACC General Secretary, Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana, says Abrahams made it clear he was not in a position to pronounce on the merits of the case because the charges came from the Gauteng Director of Public Prosecutions.

And that he as National Director, is in the position to review these. And because he is doing that, it is not appropriate for him to pronounce on actual merits of the case. So, we had to leave it at that.

Bishop Malusi Mpumlwana,
