SABC inquiry postponed to allow remaining board members to prepare - Maxegwana

Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications chairperson, Humphrey Maxegwana, says the inquiry into the fitness of SABC (South African Broadcasting Corporation) has been postponed due to legalities that need to followed.

Maxegwana says all legal processes will be finalised by next Friday October 28.

He says the postponements were to allow the SABC remaining board members to prepare for the inquiry and seek legal advice.

However, Maxegwana raised concerns about the current state of SABC board.

Up to now there is no board and we don't know if there is any decision that has been taken which will be a problem. Sitting here I won't say what will be happening with whatever decision that needs a board, because there is no board.

Maxegwana says the Committee has 26 witnesses at the moment but not all of them will be called to Parliament.

It is very clear that Parliament is treading carefully here. it doesn't want to get involved in another long process.
