Vaal Dam only 27% full

The Vaal Dam is now just above 27% full, and dropping quickly due to the drought and the lack of rain.

Spokesperson Ministry of Water and Sanitation, Mlimandlela Ndamase, says if the dam reaches 25%, 'then we will have to start eating into our savings.'

Ndamase says people should save water and use it wisely.

We are not okay. Once you start tapping into your savings it means you are not okay.

Last month the City of Johannesburg announced water restrictions to reduce water usage by 15% in the City of Johannesburg.
