Twitter claps back at Trevor Noah for pulling out of MAMA Awards

South Africans on Twitter hit back at The Daily Show host Trevor Noah after he announced that he was backing out of hosting the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs).

The MAMA Awards, scheduled to take place on Saturday evening in Johannesburg, will now be presented by media personality Bonang Matheba.

It was announced last month that the local star would host the ceremony, and Noah posted an apology statement this morning on Twitter, explaining that he is unable to travel due to medical reasons.

But fans and tweeps have not been forgiving towards the comic, or his replacement who appears to be monopolising the entertainment scene.

As a result, some of the trending hashtags include, Trevor Noah, Bonang, #MAMAs and #OpenUpTheIndustry.

Below are some Twitter responses throwing shade at both Trevor Noah and Bonang Matheba.
