Police investigating boy burnt to death in Etwatwa

Community members of Etwatwa, a township near Benoni in Ekurhuleni, say they feel frustrated and 'they are tired of being terrorised by young men who are calling themselves OVLs'.

General Bafana Mahlabe, Chief of Police in Ekurhuleni, says a young man was burnt to death last night.

Police are still investigating and monitoring the area following what is believed to be gang related violence. It is suspected that the young man was part of the OVL group.

Apparently when it started they were just a group of young boys who were competing among each other as the so called Izikhothane. As time went by they started developing clashes.

The criminal elements have taken over. They are being fed with drugs. There are a number of syndicates involved in this process.
