Public Protector serves subpoena on Cabinet secretary

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has served a subpoena on the secretary of Cabinet as part of her investigations into state capture before she leaves her office in October.

It [subpoena] asked him [Cabinet secretary] to provide declarations of interests by Cabinet members for the period November 2015 to April 2016.

Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe has confirmed that the Cabinet will provide the information requested by the Public Protector.

However, Radebe says they cannot provide minutes for ministers' appointments because the process of appointing ministers is the responsibility of the President.
