The Friday Stand-In 2016

#FridayStandIn Bulelwa Ngewana shares deep love of city life

Chief executive officer of the Cape Town Partnership Bulelwa Makalima-Ngewana kicked-off her #FridayStandIn show looking at some international news.

She asked for listeners views on the two U.S Presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, who have been dominating headlines during their debates.

She also looked at the water shortage in Namibia, where salon owners have seen a sharp decline in business as they’ve had to turn customers away due to a lack of water.

Her show was dominated by her experiences and issues she is passionate about as a town planner and urbanist.

Together with her guests Andrew Gasnolar, attorney at Mandela Rhodes Scholar, executive director of the Development Action Group Aditya Kumar and Prime Residential Group MD Jacques van Embden, the show focused on urban gentrification.

This whole idea of city improvement only reinforces apartheid inequalities. It creates beautiful environment for people who were living in the cities.
