Do we all inherently know that a good & secure relationship can make us feel better and that it is good for us?
An article in The Independent last week looked into the notion of the the importance of relationships and love.
According to this article, good relationships can actually help to prevent illness, help us recover more quickly or prevent deterioration of health conditions.
The author Ruth Sutherland points to research suggesting that people with strong relationships are 50% more likely to survive life-threatening illness than people with weaker ones.
But on the other hand, living with a loved one who has long term health condition can "change the dynamics of the relationship, the effects of a condition and treatment can shape our sex lives, change our lifestyles and lead to anger, guilt, grief and anxiety".
