How “the lost city of Africa” charmed explorers, writers and the apartheid govt

I came across some ruins in the Kalahari...

Adam Cruise

The Money Show’s Bruce Whitfield interviewed author Adam Cruise for his weekly business book review.

Cruise spoke about his new book entitled “King Solomon & the Showman: The Search for Africa's Lost City”.

Description on Tafelberg:

The lost city of southern Africa and its untold riches fascinated the Romans, European explorers and writers such as Rider Haggard, Alan Paton, Wilbur Smith and Lawrence Green.

Even the apartheid government searched for it in vain.

Adam Cruise sets out on a quest across the Kalahari to find the mythical city that inspired King Solomon’s Mines, and “the Great Farini”, the daredevil showman of the Victorian age at the heart of the legend.

Listen to Cruise in the audio below (and/or scroll down for more quotes from it).

Sun City’s Lost City is all part of this legend.

Adam Cruise

I thoroughly checked it out. I believe Farini definitely saw something that inspired this legend.
