Eskom CEO Brian Molefe on Thursday described allegations levelled against him in the State of Capture report as groundless.

Molefe says that he could’ve explained Eskom’s deal with Gupta-owned Tegeta if former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela had given him a chance to do so.

The report shows how Molefe regularly contacted the Guptas and visited their Saxonwold home during the acquisition of the Optimum coal mine by Tegeta.

“There's a shebeen there in that area," said Molefe, making light of the cellphone evidence placing him at the Gupta home.
