South Africans Doing Great Things

Right2Know Campaign broadening its fight to 'let truth be truth'

For the past six years, the Right2Know Campaign has been championing the cause for transparency by state institutions, and South Africans' right to expression and access to information.

Established in 2010 in the face of mass action against clauses in the proposed Protection of State Information Bill, the Right2Know Campaign immediately quickly grew to become a voice representing citizens in calls to put truth to power in the country.

Speaking to #NightTalk's Lovelyn Nwadeyi, Right2Know Campaign spokesperson Busi Matabane says that the movement has been met with hostility by those who are at the receiving end of its advocacy.

As the Right2Know Campaign broadens its advocacy in the country, it hopes for the state to be consistent in its transparency, and hopes for South Africans to recognize the power of active citizenship.
