US elections: Trump in the lead

America's move to elect its 45th president has been described as historic and fierce as the race between Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and her Republican counterpart Donald Trump continues neck and neck.

Teddy B. Taylor, Consul General for U.S. Consulate General in Cape Town says it looks like Trump is in the lead at the present moment, however, we need to keep in mind that its still early to make any predictions as to who will win as there are key states that have not being projected.

When asked how will the elections outcome affect his job as a diplomat, Taylor says he is a professional diplomat and not politically appointed. But those who were politically appointed by President Obama will have to hand in their resignations no matter the outcome.

As soon as US election raised the possibility that Donald Trump may prevail over Hillary Clinton, global markets were thrown into disarray.

Dennis Dykes, chief economist at Nedbank says the problem with Donald Trump is that he doesn't have position, he seems to take both sides of the spectrum.

The markets are reflecting a great deal of uncertainty... it's completely unpredictable.
