The Simpsons called Trump's victory more than a decade ago

'The Simpsons' writers have left many people gobsmacked after accurately predicting that Donald Trump would be president of the United States.

In the episode titled ‘Bart to the Future’, which originally aired in 2000, Lisa Simpson is the head of state, grappling with the legacy left by her predecessor, Trump.

She says: "We’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump" .
