Will DA succeed in Zuma no confidence debate this time around?

The Democratic Alliance is expected to debate a motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma in the National Assembly on Thursday .

The opposition party wrote to parliamentary Speaker Baleka Mbete requesting that the motion be debated.

This is not the first time the DA has brought this issue to the National Assembly without success.

DA Spokesperson, Mabine Seabe, says this motion of no confidence comes at a special time where South Africans across the board, both in and out of the ANC, are calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign.

The reality is that the one House that has the legislative and constitutional authority to remove the President is Parliament.

Mabine Seabe, DA Spokesperson

Seabe says it is disingenuous for ANC MP's to say President Jacob Zuma should fall on his sword when a motion of no confidence is presented.

He says they'll be irresponsible as a party if they fold their arms when facing a situation where there is a president that is unfit to lead.

EWN parliamentary reporter Gaye Davis says they are expecting a repeat of what happened the last time.

I think we need to take into account that we not going to see any governing party anywhere simply supporting an opposition party to topple its leader.
