Yet another Cosatu union calls for Zuma to step down

Clyde Mervin, President of Communications Workers Union (CWU), says "in principle" the President should step aside because there's too many issues hanging over his head and he needs to clear his name.

He says the union is currently having discussions on who should be the next president of the ANC. They are also focusing on the current state of affairs within the party.

The current tensions within the ANC are affecting the working class, says Mervin.

As an individual I've raised that. As the president it is my view... obviously we will have a discussion around that with our members.

Already some of the members are of the view that he must step aside so that we can rebuild the strong ANC and Cosatu.

All unions in the country are having this conversation around the leadership and state of affairs within the alliance, says Mervin.

He says the CWU will abide by whatever the majority decides on after they've had respective executive meetings.
