Legendary Canadian singer, songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen has passed away at the age of 82.
The news was announced on the artists Facebook page overnight.
Music guru Sean Brokensha says Cohen lived a fulfilled life and was more of a timeless poet than a musician.
He says the Hallelujah star was deeply driven to help the world transcend their differences.
He was a deeply driven man. Driven by the need to find truth, to find solace and to reconcile parts of himself, other people and their identities. To make sense of the world.— Sean Brokensha, Music guru
According to Brokensha, the artist knew for sometime that he was ready to die, prior to the release of his final album in August, "You want it darker".
Brokensha reflected on his significant role as an artist, his creative journey, best hits and career milestones.
Many CapeTalk listeners also recalled the influence of his music on their lives, with many saying that he was the soundtrack of their youth.
