South African Weather Service has confirmed that more flash floods, thunder storms and damaging wind will continue hitting most parts of Gauteng.
Automobile Association of SA spokesperson Layton Beard says motorists should not put their lives and those of their passengers at risk in an event of flash floods.
See Beard's advice to motorists below...
Monitor social media and keep your eye on what's happening on weather reports before venturing onto the road. Get a sense of a where high risk areas are and avoid them if possible.
Be very careful of driving through water on the road, rather avoid it than risk driving through it.
If you are in your vehicle, and you feel your car is at risk, open the windows, unfasten your seat belt and be prepared to exit the vehicle.
- If there is any possibility that your life is danger, get away from your vehicle, and prioritise saving yourself and passengers.
