Oppenheimers accuse Guptas of interfering in OR Tambo luxury terminal project

The notorious Gupta family have been accused of trying to use their political influence towards benefiting from a luxury OR Tambo International Airport terminal project.

A newspaper report published yesterday revealed that the Oppenheimers served legal papers to Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba, alleging that the Guptas tried to hijack their project and seeking his intervention.

The approval of the project has been stalled for three years on a lease agreement that was signed in 2013.

They want him to declare an international point of entry and the only person who can do that is the Minister of Home Affairs.

Testimonies by two pilots who were formerly employed by the Guptas are included in the court papers.

The recent revelations come as evidence mounts against the business family - who have close personal and business links to President Jacob Zuma and his family - accused of capturing the state.

The Home Affairs Ministry and Gupta family has not responded to the claims.
