Mokonyane: South Africans are being misled by anti-Zuma sentiment
After coming to President Jacob Zuma's defence at the motion of no confidence debate in Parliament, Minister Nomvula Mokonyane has stated that her priority is "the renewal of the ANC".
During the debate tabled by the Democratic Alliance, Mokonyane and Minister Malusi Gigaba pulled no punches against opposition parties.
She denied that the Constitutional Court judgement on Nkandla implicated Zuma in violating the Constitution or any wrongdoing.
South Africans must take a step back. The passion to go for the man must not cloud our understanding of where we are.Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister of Water and Sanitation
Speaking to 702/Cape Talk's Eusebius McKaiser, she said that business interests were behind calls for Zuma to step down.
She added the following:
"Isn't it interesting Eusebius that even those among us who are now out there are the ones who are involved in the mining industries, having business interests in the banking industry."
I don't hold a brief for Sipho Pityana. What I'm very critical of is anyone who assumes that you can mobilise a resistance towards this country and transformation.Nomvula Mokonyane, Minister of Water and Sanitation
