Parliamentary ad hoc committee to probe SABC board's fitness

Two more SABC's board members have resigned leaving the public broadcaster with only one non-executive member.

Parliament will finally begin its inquiry into whether the SABC's board can remain in office and has until January to make its findings.

EWN parliamentary reporter, Gaye Davis says ANC MP veteran Vincent Smith, was elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the ad hoc committee into the inquiry of the SABC.

Smith has made it clear that as long as there is still one board member remaining, the inquiry will continue.

The board chairperson, Mbulaheni Maguvhe, is the only one left.

The MPs also raised concerned about former SABC's employees who are now receiving death threats stating the seriousness of this matter.

They are reported to be living in fear for their lives. The committee chair has condemned the intimidation and the harassment of these journalists.
