The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) says construction project on the M1 highway will now be delayed due to unfavorably ground conditions which require more work than they envisioned before the project started.
The highway will now be completed later in 2017 and not by May as planned.
JRA managing director, Dr Sean Phillips, says the work is now 60% complete, and they are managing the project.
We are aware of the inconvenience to the motorists, particularly on the Oxford and Federation Roads but we are trying to get the project finished as soon as possible.
