South Africa in political decay - Mcebisi Jonas

Speaking at the Fedusa conference in Johannesburg, Mcebisi Jonas said the country needs exceptional leadership.

Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas said that there is political decay in South Africa and everyone must work toward combating it.

Jonas said this at the Federation of Unions of South Africa (Fedusa) congress which is currently underway in Johannesburg.

EWN reporter Thando Kubeka says Jonas beleives the recent American elections in which Donald Trump was elected to be the next US President, will have huge implications for South Africa.

Here at home, he said that bad politics are hindering South Africa's growth.

He explained the term 'bad' - that is people who are in power that serve the minority interest, people who look out for themselves and not the entire country.

The deputy minister also said that South Africa needs exceptional leadership, not only in government but also in the private sector.
