As the end of 2016 approaches, many people are suffering from serious burn-out.

Year-end fatigue is inevitable, as work deadlines, exams, holiday planning and other responsibilities demand the last of our energy and attention.

It's like everyone is running on reserves... Burn-out is reality.

General practitioner Dr Darren Green cautions people not to compromise on their well-being during this time.

He says that is important to take care of both your physical and mental health.

Here are some tips on how to survive the last stretch:

  • ensure you get sufficient sleep
  • eat regularly and keep a nutritious diet
  • exercise
  • do not isolate yourself
  • share your frustration with someone if you aren't coping
  • avoid snapping at loved one's
