Minister Mahlobo caught out lying

The Intelligence Minister, David Mahlobo is in hot water again after he contradicted himself about knowing Mcebo Dlamini in a press conference and later denied knowing him in Parliament.

EWN reporter Barry Bateman says on Monday at the Institute for Security Studies, during discussions around the involvement and the role of state security in the policing and monitoring of violent protests, Mahlobo said he knew Dlamini. This after he was asked about the student leader's arrest by one of the journalists.

He volunteered this information to the people that he knows Mcebo Dlamini.

The question is when was he lying? Was he lying on Monday when he said he knew Dlamini very well and he has been to his house - or was he lying to Parliament when he said he doesn't know the man and that he has never been to his house.

Barry Bateman, EWN reporter

Mahlobo is also linked to rhino horn smuggling after a rhino horn smuggler Guan Jiang Guang appeared in an Al Jazeera documentary calling Mahlobo his friend.

Bateman says the Mpumalanga police commissioner has been tasked to investigate the matter.
