R2K wants David Mahlobo fired for lying

Right2Know says Sate Security Minister David Mahlobo is dishonest and does not deserve to be in the office of the State Security Agency.

This follows Mahlobo contradictory statements about his knowledge of student leader Mcebo Dlamini. In a press conference Mahlobo admitted that he knows Dlamini, and later denied knowing him in Parliament.

Right to Know's Murray Hunter says South Africans need to realise the importance of the intelligence office.

This is not an ordinary position. This is the most senior member of the most sensitive and powerful part of South Africa's security operators.

Murray Hunter, Right2Know

Gwala asked if this was R2K's way to get rid of the minister for saying he will deregister NGOs involved in unnamed activities and bidding for foreign agencies and regime change.

Hunter responded saying Mahlobo has been involved in a 'disinformation campaign'.

These are very problematic statements, which suggest that the State Security Agency is making very threatening moves on freedom of expression, freedom of association and right to protest.
