Warning signs that you're suffering from work burnout

Burnout is a state of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion which is a result of excessive and prolonged stress.

Professionals, particularly those working as caregivers, become overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands, explains behavioural psychologist Dr Helgo Schomer.

It can be caused by by emotional or financial stresses, compromised personal values, loss of control or lack of community at work.

Work burnout can lead to disinterest and poor productivity and lack of energy or motivation.

Dr Schomer advises that people need to learn to take burnout seriously and help prevent it from the onset, when warning signs start to appear.

Listen to your body. Eventually you are finished and you're tired. Before you collapse, its a good idea to say I need a service.
