A number of Gauteng provincial government properties are going up on auction, including the Gauteng Premier's official residence and 17 other properties.
Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development Jacob Mamabolo says public servants will not be allowed to buy these properties in an effort to avoid corruption.
We have said provincial government officials and ourselves as politicians, we are custodians of these assets, and therefore must not participate in the sale because it will definitely bridge the relationship of trust that we have with the people.— Jacob Mamabolo, Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development
Mamabolo says provincial government will announce the names of the people who buy the properties.
As part of making sure that this is a clean process, we will make sure that anyone who participates in the process must know that we reserve the right to give you ownership of the property.— Jacob Mamabolo, Gauteng MEC for Infrastructure Development
