Helen Suzman Foundation to fight costs on Abrahams suspension case

Director of the Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) Francis Antoine says he is disappointed that the High Court in Pretoria dismissed the case to have National Prosecuting Authority head Shaun Abrahams suspended with costs.

Yesterday the HSF and Freedom Under Law (FUL) failed to convince the court that it is crucial for President Jacob Zuma to suspend Abrahams urgently.

He says the they will appeal the costs order.

It wasn't that we lost the case, the merits were never argued.

Francis Antoine, Director of the Helen Suzman Foundation

We didn't lose the case. We lost the urgency.

Francis Antoine, Director of the Helen Suzman Foundation

It's not in anyway we were trying to undermine the Presidency, but our argument was that he is constrained by the Constitution to suspend immediately. It's not a labour relations matter, it's a constitutional matter.
