'Zuma's leadership hurts ANC and country'- Sipho Pityana

African National Congress (ANC) stalwart and Chairman of AngloGold Ashant, Sipho Pityana, says if the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) does not recall President Jacob Zuma it will have to face the reality that Zuma is not wanted by the majority of South Africans.

I hope that people will understand that the moment we are facing now is very different from the Mbeki moment in 2008. There is a greater risk to the country with the continued Presidency of Jacob Zuma, and his continued Presidency will hurt the ANC as well.

Sipho Pityana, ANC stalwart and Chairman of AngloGold

The ANC NEC has extended its meeting, which is believed to be around the future of President Jacob Zuma.

This follows the ANC meeting with its struggle stalwarts in which the ANC National Working Committee (NWC) agreed to have a consultative conference early June next year.

Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom has tabled a motion to have the President re-called.

ANC NEC meeting has been extended to Monday.

Talk At Nine host says Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Ace Magashula are among the ANC members against recalling the President.

I was told that one person had to be reprimanded because the people who oppose President Jacob Zuma's continued leadership to the country were termed counter-revolutionary.
