Nikiwe Bikitsha is currently in Mozambique for Africa Connnected with Standard Bank to explore the business and investment opportunities that country offers.
Speaking to South Africa's High Commissioner to Mozambique, Mandisi Mpahlwa, Bikitsha delved into how the country's socio-economic and political landscape has affected its growth prospects. Mpahlwa did acknowledge that South African companies might be challenged working in different countries.
What we advise a lot of South African companies is to invest a lot in understanding the legal and regulatory environment.— Mandisi Mpahlwa, SA High Commissioner to Mozambique
While high poverty levels and poor education standards continue to be a challenge to the country's development, Mpahlwa said he remained optimistic about the future that lies ahead - especially the shared prosperity of Mozambique and it's trading partner to the South. He referred to the N4 Corridor as one example of projects for mutual benefit having started soon after the advent of South Africa's democracy - improving the flow of people and goods between the neighbouring states.
It really made a very big difference to life and work between South Africa and Mozambique.— Mandisi Mpahlwa, SA High Commissioner to Mozambique
