It has been reported that President Jacob Zuma is constantly guarded by 22 security personnel at all times from the presidential close-protection unit.
Mpho Kwinika, president of Sapu (South African Police Union) says that while the President should be protected, the number reported is very high and raises questions about the budget being spent on this security detail.

He says every cent needs to be accounted for to make best use of the police budget for human resources.
