Zuma surrounded by 22 bodyguards 24/7

It has been reported that President Jacob Zuma is constantly guarded by 22 security personnel at all times from the presidential close-protection unit.

Mpho Kwinika, president of Sapu (South African Police Union) says that while the President should be protected, the number reported is very high and raises questions about the budget being spent on this security detail.

He says that Zuma does not face tangible threats to his safety to warrant such a large VIP security team.

We were also very shocked to learn, not only about his own guard has increased, but his budget - the budget of that unit has increased as well.
