What does the updated Integrated Resource Plan mean for SA's future in energy?

The Department of Energy has released the updated version of the much-anticipated Integrated Resource Plan that sheds more light on the country's energy needs.

The debate on whether nuclear should be added to South Africa's energy mix has become a contentious issue due to the exorbitant costs.

However, the newly-appointed acting Eskom CEO, Matshela Koko, has insisted that nuclear would benefit the country in efforts to stabilise the grid.

Solar is the story of the decade, it's come down by 90% in price in the last six years. I don't know how far more it will go down.
