Has Mashaba fulfilled his promises after 100 days in office?

The City Joburg has been under new management for 100 days.

On Thursday, Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba gave his 100 days report on progress made since he took over as mayor.

EWN reporter Masa Kekana attended the briefing and reports that Mashaba said it has been difficult to fulfill the promises he made when he took office as mayor.

Mashaba said the budget for the City was already approved two months before the local government elections.

With regards to cleaning up the inner city, Mashaba said he has managed to ensure that there is heavy presence of Johannesburg Metro police to enforce municipal by-laws as well as carry out public policing.

He said Pik-It-Up is also being roped in. They are working double shifts at night, as well as during the days, to clean up after the vendors and people in the city.

According to Kekana, Mashaba acknowledged that differences would take a while to become visible but the strategies he has implemented are working.
