'ConCourt ruling on surrogacy is end of the road for my client'- lawyer

Attorney at Robynne Friedman Attorneys, Robynne Friedman, representing a client who has tried all avenues to conceive says the Constitutional Court ruling on surrogacy has left her client without options.

She says her client tried all avenues to conceive but failed, and the age disqualifies her for adoption.

The ConCourt ruled that at least one parent must donate sperm or eggs for a surrogacy agreement to be legal in South Africa.

It also stated that there must be a genetic link between the baby and at least one of the people commissioning the surrogate pregnancy.
