Twitterstorm and charges opened over Hout Bay woman's 'racist' Facebook post

Hout Bay resident Vanessa Hartley is in hot water over an offensive Facebook post that was published on her account over the weekend.

Hartley posted a rant on her Facebook account, in which she likens 'African' people at the beach to "stupid animals."

In response to the Hartley's remarks, some have created tongue and cheek memes and others are moblising to #filluphoutbay over the festive season.

Since the outrage over her post, Hartley has back-tracked and apologised - claiming that her cellphone was hijacked while out at a bar.

The Hout Bay Civic Association have opened a case of crimen injuria and Western Cape ANC will lay charges at the SA Human Rights Commission.
