The Presidency has issued an update on the implementation of the Farlam Commission of Inquiry's recommendations.
The police department says government is ready to pay families of 34 miners who were killed during Marikana massacre in 2012.
The Presidency also instructed Lonmin to provide a clear timeline on when the mining company will build homes for workers.
There is a large group of people who qualify, families of the victims, the 34 miners who were shot and killed, and surviving miners who were wounded.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
He [President Jacob Zuma] gave them an ultimatum. He said a compliant housing plan will be requested from Lonmin, failing which immediate action in the form of suspension and cancellation of its mining rights will be taken.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
