How environmentally friendly are electric cars?

The South African National Energy Development Institute's (SANEDI) Carel Snyman says there's no greener form of mobility on four wheels.

There's no way that anything that you burn can be cleaner than sunshine.

It's the cleanest you can go. Burning fossil fuels is very dirty.

He says charging an electric car using photovoltaic (PV) solar powered batteries is the way to go.

Snyman compares the different energy resources (petrol, coal and electricity) to prove his point.
