Wayde van Niekerk captured the nation with sensational performances in 2016

EWN sport reporter, Marc Lewis, recalled the moments that brought South Africa together during sporting events.

Athlete Wayne van Niekerk making double history by breaking a 17-year record to win the 400 metre final at the Rio Olympics and becoming the first man to run the 100m in under 10 seconds, the 200m in under 20 seconds and the 400m in under 44 seconds.

He was then named Sports Star of the Year at the Year at the SA Sports Award in Bloemfontein.

I just wonder if and when South Africa will ever see a story as big as the Wayde van Niekerk story.
