Trump appoints political opponent, Rick Perry, as secretary of energy

United States president elect, Donald Trump, has appointed Rick Perry as the new Secretary of the Department of Energy.

Perry is the former governor of Texas who campaigned for the presidency at the recent elections opposing Trump.

702's John Robbie spoke to US correspondent, Harley Carnes, about the matter and other developments unfolding.

Which is an interesting pick as Perry has endorsed Ted Cruz. Obviously Texas is a key oil state and a successful governor.
