Each year Google and YouTube create a list of the most popular searches and videos of the year.

The list is likely to result in a few "oh ja" moments as you recall the fuss made about certain stories.

YouTube both creates a compilation video featuring the major creators performing the breakout songs while giving a hat-tip to the popular videos. There is so much crammed into the 6 minute video that there is quiz to help you spot all the references.

Caspar Lee, the local YouTuber has featured before and is joined by Trevor Noah in 2016.

YouTube uses a combinations of factors besides the number of views to determine the top video. The carpool karaoke edition with Adele was judged to be the #1 video with 138 million views. You can watch most of the top 10 below (the lip sync battle is not available in SA).
