Community Safety MEC urges Westbury residents to testify against gangsters

Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane urges community members of Westbury and Newclare to come forward and testify against gangsters involved in drugs, crime and corruption problems.

Nkosi-Malobane says residents are afraid to give up names and addresses of those involved in criminal activities.

I'm pleading with them to try and work with us in resolving the problem.

She says a number of drug runners have been arrested.

We can't afford to have a situation where a township into a war zone. I was in a process of removing children and put them in a camp, but why should I remove children, instead of removing criminals.

But I also want cooperation from the community.

In August community members took matters to their own hands and led the illegal protest march to the Sophiatown Police Station.
