KZN political killings likened to violence of early 90s - SACP

Three more political murders have been reported in Kwazulu Natal over the weekend. This spate of killings has affected all political parties in the area with members fearing for their lives.

Themba Mthembu, SACP provincial secretary says, after a thorough scrutiny of the situation they have come to a conclusion that there is a hit squad operating in the area.

He says the killings follow a similar pattern to what was happening in the area in the 1990s. Mthembu says they are concerned about the absence of the police when these murders occur.

Some members of the SAPS are alleged to be complicit in the killings, according to Mthembu.

Some members of the Metro police are used as guards in houses of some councillors yet others are not protected.

What we are saying is that now the Metro police is seen as being a private army of a certain faction in what is happening in Ntshangwe.
