Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba fired

South African Football Association (Safa) has fired Shakes Mashaba as Bafana Bafana coach after two years at the helm of the national soccer team.

Mashaba was suspended pending a disciplinary hearing after Bafana beat Senegal 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier in Polokwane on 12 November.

He was seen wagging a finger and angrily remonstrating Safa president Danny Jordaan ahead of his post-match TV interview.

The disciplinary hearing, chaired by an independent legal expert, found Mashaba guilty of professional misconduct, gross insubordination and violation of Safa's communications policy.
