New Ebola vaccine gives 100% protection

World Health Organisation (WHO), and Guinea’s Ministry of Health in collaboration with other international partners has led a successful Ebola vaccine trial.

The vaccine is the first to prevent infection and provides 100% protection against the disease that has killed many people, especially in West Africa.

EWN Africa correspondent Jean-Jacques Cornish says the vaccine has not yet been regulated but 300 000 doses have been made.

It was tested on 600 people in Guinea and in every single case the patient was cleared of Ebola.
