SPCA granted interdict to stop City of Ekurhuleni fireworks

The SPCA was granted an urgent interdict to stop the City of Ekurhuleni's festive fireworks display. The order was granted on Thursday by the Johannesburg High Court.

Spokesman for the City of Ekurhuleni, Themba Hadebe, clarified the City's position saying both parties had reached an agreement prior to this interdict.

On December 21, a joint operations committee met and the licensing of fireworks for this event was discussed with the SPCA. An agreement was reached that we could not violate the by laws.
