My art has helped me deal with a whole lot of issues. It uplifts me and gives me something positive to look at with the hope that I'll soon be able to get a job and study art.— Chuma Somdaka, homeless artist in Cape Town
Chuma tells John Maytham (standing in for Kieno Kammies) that she sleeps on top of her art work in order to protect them. She says its a struggle to keep them clean and neat as she has no place to keep them safe.
She uses computers at the Cape Town library to create her blog. In her blog, Chuma explains the stories behind her portraits which are of people she sees at The Company's Garden daily.
