Mantashe breaks the silence about corruption within the ANC

Secretary-General of the ANC, Gwede Mantashe, finally broke the silence about corruption within the organisation.

Speaking in Evaton, south of Johannesburg ahead of the ANC's 105th birthday celebrations, Mantashe said corruption can no longer be regarded as merely a perception and should not be allowed to hamper government's ability to deliver services.

Corruption and looting within the movement must be confronted. We can't keep our heads in the sand and hope they will disappear.

Gwede Mantashe, ANC Secretary General

Mantashe pointed out three things that will destroy the ANC - corruption, factionalism and what he termed 'accidental leadership'.

An old movement like ours which is 105 years on Sunday cannot have leadership elected accidentally, there must be planning and management of processes and if we get those right the ANC will go back to its glory...

Gwede Mantashe, ANC Secretary General

The fact is all of these things are supported by money, money .... that will actually dent our ability to lead society.
